Ginny Michaels Interview!

Today we’re rocking around the XXXmas tree with Ginny Michaels, a purveyor of erotica ranging from PI to BDSM tales. Let’s make Ginny feel like one of the family. 😉

1. Tell us about yourself in fifteen words or less.

Mostly too serious, sometimes flirty and fun, always overly critical of my work.

2. How do you define “erotic”?
Anything that puts you in the mood for love, be it written words, sexy lingerie, sensual perfume or TV/Movie shows.

3. What makes erotica different than other genres (besides the knockage of boots)?
Erotica tends to be less detail oriented than other genres. Plot development, scene descriptions and inner thought is minimal in order to streamline the story and make it move fast.

4. Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Inspiration is everywhere. I take inspiration from other authors, from movies, tv shows, from people watching…everyone and everything has the potential to be a story.

5. What sets you apart from other erotic work out there?
A lot of the erotica I’ve read and a lot of the authors I know focus only on the sex aspect of the story. Plot is even a bad word with some authors. I try to keep my work geared more toward the erotic romance aspect by making sure there is a solid storyline and a happy every after or at least a happy for now.

6. Pick one of your erotic works–if it were made into a movie, who’d play the various characters and why?
Since I don’t ever watch movies (the last movie I saw in the theaters was at least 15 years ago) and my TV watching is limited to kid shows and reality TV I don’t think I can answer this question. I don’t even know who is famous in Hollywood these days…sad I know.

**Wild! Question: What’s your favorite part about writing the bow-chicka-wow-wow scenes? Your least favorite?**
Reading back through a finished scene and knowing that you’ve achieved what you set out to do…titillate.
My least favorite would be trying to write the scene when I’m not in the correct frame of mind. Writing sex when you don’t feel well or are sleepy is a bitch.
